Thank you so much for volunteering with Lomond Radio. Your time and dedication is very much appreciated and we hope you enjoy your experience volunteering with Lomond Radio.
We would ask you to follow the following guidelines - a basic guide to what is acceptable practice, what's definitely not allowed and some guidance for presenters and volunteers.
The Lomond Radio logo is a trademarked logo. When creating a post to promote your show, please don't modify the logo graphics in any way and always link back to or tag Lomond Radio socials or website in your posts.
You must seek permission from one of the Directors of Lomond Radio to use the logo anywhere else apart from your social media pages.
Studio Rules:
In the studio at Strathleven House, please comply with all building rules and regulations as briefed during your building induction by the facility manager. All visitors to Strathleven House must enter and leave through the main reception and ensure they sign in and out of the visitor book.
All keyholders must ensure the studio and Strathleven House are both locked and alarmed as shown during your induction. Please ensure windows and doors in studio are locked before leaving. Switch off all lights and switch the TV's off at the wall.
Studio guests are permitted and encouraged but please make one of the Directors aware of any visitors to the studio in advance of their visit.
Please leave the studio clean and tidy - wash any cups, plates and cutlery that is used.
Any changes to made to the console settings should be reverted to standard configuration upon leaving.
DO NOT consume food or drink anywhere near the presenter or production desk.
Guidance & Standards:
At Lomond Radio, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive volunteering environment that promotes safety, respect, and belonging for all. We believe that diversity is not only a fundamental human right but also a valuable asset that enriches our community and strengthens our mission.
We value the unique perspectives, experiences, and talents that each volunteer brings to our organisation. We are dedicated to creating a welcoming and respectful space where individuals from all backgrounds, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, ability, or any other dimension of diversity, are treated with dignity and respect.
All volunteers at Lomond Radio are expected to support and adhere to our commitment to diversity and inclusion, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all.
DO NOT swear or use offensive language while broadcasting or representing the station at events.
DO NOT play any music or material that contains offensive words or phrases. Ask if unsure.
Avoid controversial topics such as politics, old firm football, religion (with the exception of Rise & Shine Show), sexuality, gender, dividing issues (for example, Lomond Banks).
Guard your opinions - a listener with an opposing view may switch off and not come back.
Management permission is required before promoting any for profit business, agency, commercial entity, event or Lomond Radio competitor.
Show guests are encouraged but must be cleared with Lomond Radio management.
Avoid playing copyright material not covered by our current webcaster licence. Ask if unsure.
Production elements such as jingles, promos, etc must be sent to productions@lomondradio.co.uk. There are technical reasons for this so any found on the system that have not been uploaded to the correct category will be removed.
You are free to upload music to the system. However, please check that the file doesn't already exist on the system. Duplicates may be removed without notice. All tracks MUST be checked for bad language before uploading. Please set intro points on any music uploaded to the system. Files without intros set may be removed without notice. Repeat 'offenders' may have their ability to upload tracks removed so please be considerate. Not doing this creates work for other volunteers.
Please be considerate and provide as much notice as possible if you are unable to cover your show. Leaving it to the last minute impacts others and is unfair.
Holidays and breaks are absolutely fine but please give as much notice as possible so that alternative arrangements can be made. Any requests for show cover should be logged through the helpdesk (helpdesk@lomondradio.co.uk). Extended breaks are fine, however we can't guarantee your show slot beyond 6 weeks as there's only so much that can be done with repeats. Presenters who repeatedly cancel at short notice will be deemed unreliable and may be removed from the schedule.
Thank whoever was on before you (if applicable) and introduce / talk-up whoever is on after you. Provide a run-down of the rest of the day's schedule before the end of your show (or for shows late at night, you can always provide a run-down of what is on the following day).
If you're unsure about anything, please ask.
For shows containing adverts, these should run on the hour (after news if applicable) and at half past the hour (after the headlines if applicable). The system allocates adverts and presenters should NOT delete or add adverts.
Live or Recorded:
When presenting a show, you should only say you are LIVE if you actually are LIVE, whether in the studio or presenting remotely. Only use the LIVE FROM STRATHLEVEN HOUSE jingles if presenting from the studio.
If you are pre-recorded you should never say that either, it's OK to leave the listener wondering and listeners should always get the impression the shows are live. But again, please don't say you're live if you're not. This is important as it has Ofcom Licencing implications.

There are a number of useful tutorial videos on the Myriad YouTube channel and on the Lomond Radio Team Facebook page.

Myriad App:
We would ask that everyone who is VT'ing at home download the Myriad app to their PC rather than using a browser such as Google Chrome, Firefox, etc. The app for Windows and Mac can be downloaded here.
Email Addresses:
There are various email addresses for listeners to contact Lomond Radio depending on what they are emailing about and all of these can be found here on the Station Information page.
However, all volunteers can be allocated their own lomondradio.co.uk email address which you can use on air. If you don't have an email address and would like one, please send a message to the helpdesk - helpdesk@lomondradio.co.uk.
