Parent Teacher Council

The scope of GPTC combined two previous bodies being the PTA and a School Board.  Externally the GPTC scope covers working with outside agencies like WDC on school facilities, the school grounds and senior staffing. Internally, we partner with the school on its objectives, improvement plans and initiatives.

A significant part of the Parent Council role is fundraising.  Like all schools we have seen successive budget cuts and the funds raised by GPC go some way to helping the school with essential resources.

The funds raised are spent throughout the school year and all spending decisions are made in agreement with senior staff and teachers who are best placed to understand the school and pupil’s needs.  Examples of previous spending are two new class novels for every pupil, science & music resources, maths and literacy resources, gym and sports equipment, Trim Trail in the playground, smartboards, purchase of chromebooks and other IT resources, playground thermal markings and equipment, funding of after school clubs, funding of panto visits, subsidising school trips and purchase of outdoor learning equipment.  The school and pupils benefit greatly from the funds raised and it would not be possible without the support of parents, carers, families and the extended Gavinburn community.
