The department has developed close links with West College Scotland (Clydebank Campus) and as such, we can recommend for some of our pupils to attend supported college placements.

CERTIFICATE FOR WORK READINESS

(SCQF LEVEL 4)

What will I learn?

This course is designed for young people who are ready to make the transition into the workplace with guided support. You'll learn about:

  • Responsibilities of employment

  • Customer care

  • Workplace skills

  • Self-awareness about work

There's also a work placement lasting at least 190 hours.

What can I do after?

After successfully completing this course you'll have the skills needed to get supported or unsupported work.

Or you can develop your skills further by studying another course, such as:

  • A mainstream college course


COMMERCIAL VENTURES

(SCQF LEVEL 3)

What will I learn?

This is a one or two year course for adults with additional needs. You'll learn about:

  • Enterprise

  • E-commerce

  • Retail

  • Practical skills

  • Employability

  • Life skills

  • Team Working

  • Problem Solving

  • Essential Skills

What can I do after?

After successfully completing this course you may have the skills needed to get a supported or unsupported job, in the voluntary sector or manufacturing.

Or you could develop your skills further by studying another course, such as:

  • Steps to Work


DEVELOPMENT

(SCQF LEVEL 2)

What will I learn?

This is a two year course for school leavers with additional needs. You'll learn about:

  • Music and drama

  • PE

  • Cookery

  • Working as a team

  • Art and crafts

  • Communication and numeracy

  • Community Projects

If you would like to complete a paper copy of the application form instead, you can collect one from the Learner Development team on any campus (Clydebank, Greenock or Paisley).

What can I do after?

After successfully completing this course you can develop your skills further by studying another course, such as:

  • STEP 1 (Paisley Campus)

  • Pathways (Clydebank campus)

  • Community Life (Greenock campus)

  • Work Preparation (Paisley campus)


PATHWAYS

(SCQF LEVEL 2)

What will I learn?

This is a course for adults with additional needs who have the potential for independent travel. You'll learn about:

  • Cookery

  • Making journeys

  • PE

  • Scottish studies

  • Drama

  • Computing

  • Media Studies

What can I do after?

After successfully completing this course you may be able to get part time voluntary or supported employment.

Or you can develop your skills further by studying another course, such as:

  • Pathways 2

  • Community course



PATHWAYS 2

(SCQF LEVEL 2)

What will I learn?

This course is for adults with learning difficulties, who have the potential for independent travel. You'll learn about:

  • IT

  • Communication

  • Cookery

  • Numeracy

  • Improving travel skills by accessing the community

You'll also have the option to learn about:

  • DIY

  • Vehicle valeting

  • Beauty care

  • Life science

What can I do after?

After successfully completing this course you'll be able to study another course, such as:

  • Community course


STEP 1

(SCQF LEVEL 3)

What will I learn?

This is a one year course for school leavers with additional needs. You'll learn about:

  • Communication

  • Numeracy

  • IT

  • Working with others

  • Enterprise

  • Employability

  • Volunteering

  • Other optional subjects that'll help you develop practical and work-related skills

What can I do after?

After successfully completing this course you can develop your skills further by studying another course, such as:

  • Step 2


STEP 2

(SCQF LEVEL 3)

What will I learn?

This is a one year course for school leavers with learning difficulties. You'll learn about:

  • A range of Vocational tasters

  • Enterprise projects

  • Personal development

  • Essential skills

  • Volunteering

  • Skills for Employment

  • Team Working

  • Problem Solving

Work experience placements are part of this course.

What can I do after?

After successfully completing this course you may have the skills needed to apply for a Level 4 mainstream course.
