Additional Groups

At Clydebank High School, we offer additional group sessions to selected pupils. This involves extraction from a selected curricular areas and will provide an opportunity for them to work on certain skills. This can happen once a week, three times a week, or on a rotational basis.

ESOL (English as an Additional Language):

    • Courses delivered at National 2, 3, 4, 5 and Higher level.

    • Designed to support pupils for whom English is not their first language. We will look at reading, writing, listening and speaking skills and these skills can be transferred into their other subject areas.

    • This provides a quite place for pupils to work and be given support with curricular areas.

Personal Development Award (PDA):

    • This is delivered from National 2 upwards. It involves pupils taking part in and completing a number of units that go together to make up the final award.

Raising Self-esteem:

    • Course delivered to provide pupils with the skills required to build up their self esteem and confidence.

Social Eyes:

    • Course delivered to facilitate social skills and social understanding for those who are uncomfortable in social circumstances.

ASN Relationships, Parenthood & Sexual Health:

    • Course delivered to teach the basic information required to understand the complexities surrounding these areas.

Assistive Technology:

    • Designed to help support pupils who struggle with reading and writing. It involves the use of computers (along with their integrated applications, such as: Word, Excel, PowerPoints, Typing skills, Reading software) and reading pens.

College:

    • This allows pupils to build up the confidence and skills that enable them to attend college through the school environment. Long term this should ease transition into further education.
