4. Create learning materials

Short overview of the possibilities

You can design & create learning materials by using many approaches. On the left side I have collected some common methods for learning material production:

Types of material

A. Self-created recordings or other..

Record presentation in studio: In our university we have professional video studios for recording speeches, presentations, demos etc.
Capture sceen and use captured content in your materials. NOTE: you can capture images from tablets, mobile phones as well as desktop computers
Record screen: You have multiple ways to record on-screen instructions, explanations or activities: Snip tool has simple recorder as well as has Outlook. However, in order to do any complex recordings either Office Mix (Powerpoint extension) or Open Broadcast Server (OBS) are recommended.
Create infographics: With modern infographics software you can easily to create fact filled presentations. There are many alternatives available for this purpose.

B. Interactive material

Interactive presentations: You can create slideshow and then record it with different kind of nice extras: using pen while recording, adding audio etc. By using Office Mix you can also add questionnaires, animations, web-pages etc. into your presention. Similar functions are available also for Explain Everything app (for iOS and Android). You can use this recording e.g. flipped learning material.
Interactive whiteboard: You can create interactive whiteboard presentation wich utilizes the functions of the respective software to be used (e.g. Smart notebook (desktop) or Explain everything (mobile app for iOS)
Interactive photos. You can use thinglink or H5P for annotating photos => to make interactive images
Other interactive materials (flashcards etc): H5P offers you a lot possibilities for creating interactive materials. e.g. you can create flashcards for learning words or other facts :)

B. Simulations

9. Simulations are example of existing content that you can use in lessons. However, you can also integrate Phet simulations for example to your office Mix presentations or use those as standalone material.

10. Track the students who are using the material

Offfice Mix enables you to analyze visitors activities and asses their understanding (by using questionnaires etc)

Eddpuzzle helps you to understand how students are reacting to your videomaterial.

H5P enables you to create interactive videos etc. with questionnaires.

Task1 : Create learning material about digital tools

First step: explore tools and software

Screen recordings and captures (do both)

How to record screen with OBS (advanced) or with Snip (windows tool) or Powerpoint?
How to make screenshot from the certain area in the screen (desktop) by using Snip or snipping tool (windows), how to make screenshot in mobile phone? in tablet?

Interactive presentations and whiteboard (choose 1-n)

Explore what is the possible to do with Office Mix? (its installed into computer class as a powerpoint extension)
What can you do with Explain Everything (commercial app, installed on iPads in Classroom)
Explore interactive board applications installed into desktop computer?

Interactive photos and other content (both)

Explore the possibilities of H5P tools? How to create interactive flashcards or interactive video?

Animations and Infographics (voluntary)

Explore what are Phet animations? How can you use Phet simulations within Office Mix? Can you use those also with Smart Notebook and Explain everything?

Second step: one idea for digital material (you can choose your own topic also)

Choose one digital tool and prepare material which helps other people to understand/learn how to use tool chosen by you

Prepare interactive slides about Learning sciences/educational technology (study topics)

Third step: Let's produce the material!

1: Create Flashcards material (Obligatory)

Use H5P service for creating flashcards about your topic. NOTICE: If you use images, be sure that you are allowed to use those (use e.g. creative commons search engine or adjust google image search settings)

SHARING: Get the link to your flashcards and use it in the task 3.

2A. Make interactive presentation by using Office Mix or Explain Everything (this or 2B is obligatory)

Prepare presentation of your topic by using Office Mix OR Explain Everyhting
Share your video Office Online Community (Office Mix) OR Youtube (with the "hidden" setting) (Explain Everything)
Be sure thsat you have link to shared presentation (you will need it later on)
Embed video to your blog

2B Record your whole activity by using OBS (this or 2A is obligatory)

Prepare presentation just as in task 2A,
Configure OBS so that you can record your presentation
Record your presentation by using OBS
Share it to Youtube (with "hidden" as a publicity setting and get link)
Embed video to your blog

3. Create interactive image(s) related to your topic and link earlier task phases to it (obligatory)

1. Get images which are relevant to your topic and

2. use thinglink to link contributions from earlier task phases to the image(s)

2. Embed this thinglink presentation to your blog and share it to "ICT proficiency" SLACK channel.

4. Create interactive video (THIS is voluntary)

Office Mix:

Add questionnaires/other components to be sure that viewers understand the content
Re-upload your Office Mix to Office Mix community

Edpuzzle:

Add your video to EdPuzzle (check what sources can be added)
Add interactivity to your video. Create questions and other activities to be sure that viewers understand the content :)
