DYSLEXIA AWARENESS WEEK:
Our school will be celebrating Dyslexia Awareness Week next week. This year’s theme is ‘What’s your Story?’ Everyone is different and everyone's experience of dyslexia is different too. It has three key messages and one call to action: Every story is different – showcasing the diversity of the dyslexic community and highlighting that everyone's experience of dyslexia is unique. We look forward to hearing the stories and celebrating our diverse talents.
BOOK FAIR:
The Scoil Mochua Book Fair is back from November 7th to 13th. This is an exciting way to replenish your home library / purchase early Christmas presents and help to raise funds for the school library.

REMINDERS:
All children are required to wear a full school uniform daily. A note should be provided to class teachers if the uniform is not being worn.
Thank you to everyone who has paid the €20 art and crafts fee this year. If you have not done so yet we kindly request that you do so over the next couple of weeks.
We ask that all parents / guardians are careful parking in the car park and that no one parks in the bus bay, in the disabled bay (without a badge) or directly outside the gates. Please use the traffic lights to cross the road safely.
SHARED READING:
The Shared Reading Programme begins on Monday November 4th and will run for 6 weeks. Any parent/guardian requiring further information or explanation regarding the scheme should contact Mr. Stuart at the school.
BIRTHDAY INVITES:
All parents are reminded that distribution of birthday invites on the school grounds is not part of School Policy as it inevitably results in children feeling left out and therefore hurt and upset.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION:
Children in second class will make their First Holy Communion on Sunday, May 4th at 11a.m.
First Penance will be on Wednesday, April 2nd at 7pm in the church.
Thank you to Ms. O’Brien and Liz for helping the children to prepare.
CONFIRMATION
Pupils in 5th and 6th class will make their confirmation on Sunday May 11th at 11am in St Patrick’s Church, Oulart.
The Ceremony of Light will be held on Wednesday, March 5th at 7pm.

Fr. Doyle requests that all children receiving a sacrament this year attend mass weekly.
THANK YOU:
Our school was very lucky to receive a donation of a full class set of badminton racquets from André and Kathryn Hendrick. Many thanks to the Hendrick family and we look forward to some sunny weather later in the year to make full use of this wonderful gift. Go raibh míle maith agaibh.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
Music Group: Music group has resumed every Monday. Thank you to Mr. Stuart and Ms. Ryan for facilitating this.
Rackard League Football: Well done to the girls and boys participating in the Rackard League football this term. Thank you to Ms. Griffin and Ms. Hogan for assisting with the training and the matches.
Congratulations to our Girls’ team for reaching their district final vs Monageer. This is on Tuesday, October 8th at 4:30pm in St. Patrick’s Park. Thank you to Ms. Hogan for all her work in coaching and organising. All support is greatly welcomed.
GAA coaching: We are delighted to have Darragh Hayes in the school on Fridays for fundamental Movement Skills training. It is fantastic to have such a close link between the school and the club and we look forward to working closely together.
HALLOWEEN HIKE
Our Halloween Hike is planned to happen during the final week in October. We will be sending out sponsorship cards for the hike in the coming days. Your support, as always, for this fundraiser is greatly appreciated
We will choose the actual date when we see the weather forecast.
PUMPKIN COMPETITION
Halloween pumpkins for family and individual entries can be left in to school on Wednesday 23rd or Thursday 24th. Judging of entries will be on Thursday and all pumpkins must be brought home on Thursday at the end of the school day.

PRELOVED CLOTHING SALE:
We are holding a Preloved Clothing Sale of Halloween and fancy dress items in school this year. Please drop any items you’d like to donate to the school by Friday October 11th.
The sale will be held on Monday, October 14th between 6 and 8 pm. PLease come along and pick up an outfit for a small amount.
CLOTHING COLLECTION
There will be a clothing collection on Wednesday, 16th of October at the school. Please leave bags at the school gate before 9:00 am. Items that can be donated are clothing, curtains, paired shoes, belts and handbags.
HALLOWEEN DISCO
The Halloween Disco is on Saturday, Oct 26th (6pm - 8pm) in the hall.
Raffle and prizes for best costume!
