Wesley Forget
Wes Forget started curling in 2002 after watching Kevin Martin in the Salt Lake City Olympics. He would go on to receive the Oshawa Curling Club Little Rocks Sportsmanship Award and begin his journey in competitive curling! In 2016 Wes qualified for the Canadian Curling Club Championships with fellow OCC curler, The Great Graham Rathwell, where they would go on to win the gold medal beating Saskatchewan in the final!
In the following 5 years, Wes would go on to win the Ontario Silver Tankard, Ontario Mixed and Ontario Tankard all in the 2019 season leading to his dream of playing in the Brier in Brandon where team Ontario finished 5th.
In 2021, Wes won the Canadian Olympic Curling Pre-trials playing second for team Horgan to play in the Olympic Trials in Saskatoon.
Jesse Ruppell
I've curled longer than Brad Gushue.
Okay, I was told that I can't just leave it at that...
20+ year member of the Ottawa CC in various leagues. I've won some things, and I've lost more things. Most recently, 2025 & 2026 Ontario Senior Men's Provincial participant.
I volunteer as a Mentor Angel with Imerman Angels, providing one-on-one support to individuals impacted by cancer, and participate in activities with various lung cancer organizations.
In the off seasons I have played in an Ultimate Frisbee Nationals, done a bunch of triathlons, enjoy hiking and kayaking, and am also highly skilled at sitting on a patio.
And although I believe that I'm 38 years old, I have kissed a girl.
James Birtwistle
James Birtwistle is a dedicated curler known for his strong shot-making, strategic approach, and consistent performance on the ice. His career spans at least three generations of brooms.
Achievements:
• 2× Monday Night League Champ (maybe 3 can't remember?)
• 2× Wednesday Cash League Champ
• 1× Friday Mixed League Champ
• 2023 Club Champ
The 2023 Club Championship is, of course, a big deal. Not something he brings up all the time… but definitely enough.
On the ice, he’s known for his confident shot calls, precise weight control, and occasionally blaming the sweepers.
His path into curling isn’t really a story, more just a natural progression, like gravity or taxes, inevitable and hard to question.
Since then, he’s built a reputation for consistency, competitiveness, and an impressive ability to look like he meant to do that.
Stuart Jobb
Born and raised in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, picked up the broom at age 12 and never quite figured out how to live without it.
Career highlight: Runner-Up to the Semi-Finalists of the C Division at the Legendary (now defunct) Lilydale Super Slam 2007
After relocating to Ottawa in 2008, things got serious. New friends, new leagues, and eventually, some actual wins: Monday Ladder champ, Wednesday Cash winner, Friday Mixed victor, and Club Champion. Proof that persistence—and a skip who occasionally makes shots— can take you places.
The stat line isn’t flawless; a few rocks that didn't make it past the lighthouse, more than a schooners worth of flashed peels, and the occasional “strategic miss.” But every now and then, when it really counts, there’s a sweep that drags one into the top four—and that’s what keeps the legend alive.
Calissa Daly
I have curled for over 20 years, playing the sport mostly in the Ottawa area. The past 3 seasons I played second on Team Inglis where we represented Ontario at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts 2 years in a row.
