Term 2 2023: Senior HSS teachers
HSS 1/2 - Whaea Valerie / Ms. Andrews vanrl@otakicollege.school.nz
HSS 3 - Whaea Valerie / Ms. Lees vls@otakicollege.school.nz
Why the change to HSS from History only?
The NZ Social Sciences Curriculum includes a variety of disciplines and while most of our students are taking History, we have chosen to offer a bit more choice for senior students. Most will be learning History at Levels 1 and 2, and In level 3 students are choosing standards from History or Classics. In addition, there was great interest in Psychology last year and a few students are taking Psychology online through Distance Learning.
Mr. Shields joined ŌC during Term 2 of 2022 as a reliever filling in for our Head of Department, Penny Quinn, who currently remains on leave. He came out of retirment to help us out last year and at the end of term 1, had decided to return to retirement. Thank you for your help and contribution in Social Sciences this past year and we wish him well.
Term 2 welcomes Whaea Valerie / Ms Andrews. She is teaching HSS 1/2, SOC 10T and 10 K, English 10T, and Hauora.
As she is newly returned, please be patient as she gets to know her classes and become familiar with all the online tools we are using.
