Welcome To Fifth Grade

Dear Fifth Grade Families,

I would just like to take a moment and welcome your children to fifth grade. Fifth grade is an exciting time, your children will put all of their learned skills to great use.

I always say I wish parents and guardians could see how well their children take to tasks whether working independently or in group settings. Children just need to know they are far more capable than they realize and when they do, get out of the way. Their confidence soars, as well as their work habits.

One thing I always stress is "Ask Questions." I try to take my time teaching, but if your child still does not understand a concept being taught, they need to ask.

We do have rules in fifth grade that we all follow. The biggest rule in my classroom is absolutely no bullying. Everyone has a right to be in school, no one is better than anyone else and to get respect you need to give respect. This ensures a safe, healthy environment for learning.

Homework needs to be done. I understand once in a while issues arise, but when it becomes a habit then your child is setting him or herself up with bad habits.

Learning in a safe, quiet and organized environment ensures positive results. I want the students to feel calm in their classroom, not stressed out.

Please feel free to contact me at any time.

Sincerely,

Ms. Janice
