Instructions for Completing the Neonatal Advanced Life Support Instructor Bridge
These instructions are for instructors with current instructor status with equivalent training organizations who wish to become credentialed as an American Red Cross Neonatal Advanced Life Support Instructor. To become an American Red Cross NALS instructor, you will need to successfully complete the NALS: Comprehensive course online session and the NALS Instructor Bridge by following these steps:
Step 1: Meet the Course Prerequisites
To participate in the NALS Instructor Bridge, candidates must hold a current provider level (base-level) certification and one of the equivalent instructor certifications from the table below.

Step 2: Register for the Instructor Bridge
Visit www.redcross.org/take-a-class to register for the Neonatal Advanced Life Support Instructor Bridge. Once registered and logged into the Red Cross Learning Center, click on the class, and launch the first task to upload a copy of your instructor-level card or proof of credential from the table above.
Your credentials will be reviewed by a Red Cross representative. If you qualify for the Neonatal Advanced Life Support Instructor Bridge, a Red Cross representative will provide confirmation of approval (via email). Once approved, you can return to the Learning Center and launch the required online courses.
Step 3: Obtain and Review Course Materials
Neonatal Advanced Life Support Instructor Candidates must obtain and review the following course materials prior to completing the Neonatal Advanced Life Support Instructor Bridge:

launching into the course. Course presentations and other digital materials are located in the Instructor Lifecycle/Instructor Candidate Resources section of the home page of the Learning Center.
Print materials are available for purchase on the Red Cross Store (redcross.org/store).
Step 4: Successfully Complete the Online Instructor Bridge
Follow the instructions provided by the Red Cross representative to complete the Neonatal Advanced Life Support Instructor Bridge process in the Red Cross Learning Center. There will be two online sessions to complete the process: 1) the Neonatal Advanced Life Support: Comprehensive Online Session; and 2) the Neonatal Advanced Life Support Instructor Bridge.
The estimated completion time for an Instructor Candidate taking the Neonatal Advanced Life Support: Comprehensive Online Session is 90 to 210 minutes based upon reading the required Participant Manual, the results of the optional pre-assessment and familiarity with the overall course material. The estimated completion time for the neonatal Advanced Life Support Instructor Bridge is 60 minutes.
Upon successful completion of the Neonatal Advanced Life Support: Comprehensive Online Session and the Neonatal Advanced Life Support Instructor Bridge, an American Red Cross Neonatal Advanced Life Support Instructor certification will be added to your profile in the Learning Center; this instructor certification will be valid for two years.
Prior to teaching American Red Cross courses, you must be affiliated with an American Red Cross Training Provider or be employed as a paid or volunteer instructor of the American Red Cross. This requirement is in addition to holding a current instructor certification. If you are not already affiliated with a Training Provider and do not plan to teach as an American Red Cross paid or volunteer instructor, please ask your organization’s administrator to contact us to complete or update the organization’s Training Provider agreement
