Oklahoma State University Fire Service Training offers a significant number of courses that will improve the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) abilities of emergency responders. Responders can begin with the fundamental base with classes such as the American Heart Association (AHA) CPR classes and move forward with Emergency Medical Technician I (EMT-B). OSU-FST offers an array of EMS Refresher courses to meet the needs of responders across the State of Oklahoma. OSU-FST’s EMS program houses one of the largest American Heart Association training centers in the central United States. This program currently supports 174 AHA training sites, providing support for over 1000 CPR classes annually.

Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS)
Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) Training
Advancing Resuscitation Education for Better Outcomes
Unmatched Science
The cornerstone of the NALS courses is grounded on evidence-based practices and
aligns with the Consensus on Science with Treatment Recommendations (CoSTR) of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR), the Red Cross Neonatal
Advanced Life Support Healthcare Guidelines as developed by the Red Cross Scientific
Advisory Council and is consistent with the recommendations of the American Heart
Association (AHA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Incorporating five
high-reliability principles throughout the curriculum enhances performance, promoting flawless execution in any setting.
In adherence with the Red Cross Resuscitation SuiteTM, these courses go beyond a
resuscitation focus and include additional neonatal education such as neonatal sepsis and congenital heart disease. Electronic support tools including quick reference materials and sample checklists are provided to further supplement learning.
Fundamental and Innovative eLearning Methods
The NALS Foundations course, utilizing a traditional eLearning model, provides a solid
understanding of foundational concepts in neonatal resuscitation.
The NALS Comprehensive course focuses on a full spectrum of neonatal resuscitation
techniques and protocols and incorporates adaptive leaning. This unique approach
enables students to start with a pre-assessment which personalizes the curriculum to their skill level and helps reduce training time and enhance mastery.
Additionally, realistic case scenarios challenge critical thinking and decision-making skills. These cases involve patient assessment, data analysis and next-step determination, bridging the gap between theory and practice for deeper, more meaningful learning. Broadened Reach Committed to improving newborn care, our new NALS courses provide healthcare professionals serving in hospitals, birthing centers, emergency medical services (EMS) and beyond with critical lifesaving skills. The NALS program also has been developed with a separate out-of-hospital track to better tailor the learning to those that need to care for newborns outside of the hospital. Available Late 2024
