Unit 1: Internet Safety

Over the first few weeks, we will be covering internet safety! Students will be introduced to the 24/7, social nature of digital media and technologies, and gain basic vocabulary and knowledge for discussing the media landscape. Students will also learn methods for planning and carrying out an online search.

By the end of the unit students will be able to...

Use critical thinking skills to discuss, "What is the place of digital media in our lives? " and how to be safe while using the internet.
Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for internet safety.

Unit 2: Scratch Programming

Our second unit is Scratch Programming! Students will be introduced to Scratch which will provide a stepping stone to the world of computer programming. Scratch was created to help young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically and work collaboratively- essential skills for life in the 21st century.

By the end of the unit students will be able to...

Apply Scratch programming to the creation of a video game.
Debug (fix) broken code.

Unit 3 : Ozobots

Our third unit is Ozobot Robotics and Programming! Students will be introduced to Ozobots which will provide a new and unique experience into computer programming. Ozobot's coding program OzoBlockly gives students the power to fully control movement and behavior of the robot.

By the end of the unit students will be able to...

Program an Ozobot to solve coding challenges.
Identify both Ozocode and Ozoblockly programming language.
