Reading

Our reading time follows the workshop model. I teach a new reading strategy, students go off to read independently while I conference. Then I pull small groups of students while the class continues to work on becoming better readers. At the end, students share what they worked on during our workshop time. Every day students have time to read as well as talk and write about books. I also ensure that students hear me read aloud every day to develop a love of reading and model what good readers do.
