Meeting FAQ
If your student is in special education or has a 504 plan, there are a variety of meetings that will occur. These meetings are designed to give parents/guardians and the child an opportunity to review and update plans as well as receive a yearly update on a student's progress. The two most common meetings would be an individual education plan (IEP) meeting/504 meeting and an evaluation meeting.
Who will always be invited to these meetings?
- Parent/guardians
- Student (when appropriate)
- Classroom teachers
- Special education teachers (for IEPs)
- A district representative
Sometimes, additional members will be invited, such as:
- Outside therapists
- Administrators
- Specialists (school psychologists, school counselors, speech therapists, occupational therapists, or physical therapists)
- Other adults who know the student well (family friends, student mentors)
