Badminton

Rules!

  • The game is played to 21, with a win by two points rule. (In class, games are played to 15 points.)
  • The game is never played passed 30 points, whoever gets to 30 points, if tied 29 to 29, is the winner.
  • Unlike tennis, there is no second serve, if a serve is missed the other team is awarded a point.
  • Only one hit is allowed per side of net.
  • The racket is not allowed to cross the net, there is an exception to this rule (if the follow through is the only part of the shot that causes the racket to cross, it is allowed.)
  • If a person runs into the net, the other team is awarded a point and the serve.
  • The last team to score a point is the team that serves next.
  • Serving is always cross court and always underhand.
  • The server holds onto the "feathers" of the shuttlecock/birdie and completes an underhand serve cross court (diagonally). This is a proper serve in badminton.
