Project Updates and Blogs
November Updates:
Hello supporters! We've been hard at work the past month. We have come up with fundraising ideas, which Madison will talk more about, we finished our website, and we have finished putting together our Amazon wishlist. I also researched what to add to the classrooms, sent out a survey to all high school staff, and attempted to reach out to our staff after the survey. After trying to talk to the teachers I decided that it would be easier to stockpile the items and allow the teachers to select the items after being able to see them in person to better visualize them in the classroom.
Our big goals are to fundraise in different ways, such as Madison’s fundraiser which is to have people sign a pledge to donate 10 dollars if she reads 1,000 pages in two weeks. The other way we hope to gain money is by going to the Dresser Lions Club, they are huge supporters of the Why Wait class. We will have to take the items we plan to get and multiply the cost by the amount to figure out how much money we will need. Once we have this information we will put it onto a flier to hand out to the Lions at their meeting. During the meeting Madi and I will present our project and ask for the amount of money that we will need. We plan to get standing desks, stools, fidgets, desk bands, yoga balls, bean bags, and umbrellas, and weed barrier for the courtyard.
With great appreciation,
Lachelle
Hello Everyone!
We would like to give you a little update on our Why Wait project. In the last few weeks, we have put together an Amazon Wishlist with the things we need for classrooms and the courtyard. We also put together a survey and sent it out to all the teachers to see what they would like in their classrooms. We knew that we would need to do a lot of fundraising to buy the things for the courtyard. I love to read every chance I get, so we decided to use this to help our project. We came up with a goal to read 1,000 pages in a limited amount of time. People who want to participate are asked to put $10 towards the fundraising, and they won't have to pay unless I actually read the 1,000 pages in however many days. This money will go towards everything in the Amazon wishlist and anything we need for the courtyard or the classrooms. I will be starting this challenge on December 4th, ending it on December 18th, and hopefully reading 1,000 pages in those two weeks.
I look forward to reading! In the meantime, reach out and help by contacting us on our website.
Thank you,
Madison
