Mr. Hendricks's House Rules:
Some rules are made to be broken, these aren’t them.
The Golden Rules:
1. Be Respectful
(be kind to everyone in our digital classroom)
2. Be Prepared
(have all materials nearby and ready to go before class starts)
3. Be Productive
(complete all of your work and ask for help from your teacher and peers as you need it)
Absence/Tardiness:
Do your best to be on time or early. If you are late, do your best to catch up. Even though we are online, most lessons are LIVE and you are expected to participate for the entire day!
Bathroom:
Use the restroom during breaks. If it's an emergency, send a private chat or message to the teacher before going AFK (away from keyboard).
Homework:
There is no homework except for whatever you don't finish during the school day! If it is not in class/submitted the day it’s due, it’s late. Late work will not be graded and will receive a score of 0 unless you have been excused.
Plagiarism:
Do not plagiarize. Plagiarism of any kind or degree will be given a score of 0 and result in parent contact.
Food/Drink:
Keep food and drinks away from your Chromebook. Drink lots of water and snack away during class, but make sure not to do it over your keyboard and to keep food and liquids on a separate surface.
Availability/Logging Off:
Do not log off until you have been dismissed! This means that at the end of class I will be dismissing students as a group or individually, but if you log out of our meeting early it will result in parent contact.
Your Work Space:
Choosing a good work space is one of the most important decisions you will make in iSchool. Make sure it is a spot in your home that is away from distractions. You should be able to turn on your camera without worrying about people moving around behind you and be in a spot with as little background noise as possible. Use headphones that include a microphone to reduce noise. These things are not always possible, but do your best!
Laying in bed is not an acceptable work space (your brain will think it is time to sleep)! Do not work in a space that has a television turned on. If I suspect that you are watching TV or playing video games during class, I will contact parents. Make sure you are sitting somewhere that will support your back and that has all of your school materials within reach.
Chat:
If you wouldn't say something around your parents, don't say it in the chat. I will not tolerate language that is exclusionary in any way. If it is your first time using this language by mistake I will correct you. If you are caught repeatedly using language that is inappropriate your parents will be contacted.
DO NOT SPAM THE CHAT. This means do not put nonsense, cut and paste long excerpts of text, or do anything that makes the chat difficult to read and keep track of for the teacher and your classmates.
DO NOT SHARE LINKS WITHOUT PERMISSION. If you want to share a link in the chat, it may be sent privately to the teacher first.
