Welcome!
What is the Osborn Community iSchool (OCiS)?
The Osborn Community iSchool serves Arizona 1st-8th students Valley Wide. Families living outside the district will need to be able to come pick up materials about three times per year, and drop off district issued devices at the end of the school year. Our offices are located within Clarendon Elementary at 1225 W. Clarendon Ave., Phoenix, AZΒ 85013.Β
OCiS students will learn from home through Google Classroom, using a district-issued device, with continuous access to resources and online instruction. Like all Osborn schools, the OCiS will offer social-emotional support, as well as accommodations, enrichment and support services for unique student needs.Β
iSchool provides an online instructional framework of video-taped direct instruction, engaging student-paced instruction, small group instruction, and dedicated time on adaptive educational programs such as Lexia and ST Math/IXL. OCiS will operate on the same calendar as our other schools and will be open to 1st through 8th grade students.Β
We also provide the highest quality professional development that incorporates Thinking Maps, the NIET Teaching & Learning instructional rubric, and integrates technology for instruction and engagement.
OCiS prides itself in continuous open lines of communication in both English and Spanish, so all families feel welcomed and informed.
At this time we are not able to offer direct instruction in Spanish for Dual Language students. We will, however, provide supplementary learning materials in Spanish to support ongoing practice and maintenance. One of our programs is Duolingo for Schools.
At iSchool we focus on giving students and staff the tools to regulate their emotions in order to increase learning. We do this through Conscious Discipline concepts continuously taught and reinforced.
iSchool starts every day with an 8:15 am Brain Smart Start and continues its focus on social emotional development throughout the day, integrated into lessons where students have the opportunity for TWRLS - Thinking, Writing, Reading, Listening, and Speaking.
