6th Grade Homework Policy
Teachers will assign a due date for each assignment. Unless otherwise communicated by the teacher, homework is expected to be completed and ready to turn in at the beginning of class on the assigned due date. If it is not, it is considered late.
If an assignment is not submitted by the due date, it will be considered late. A zero will be entered into TeacherEase and the assignment will be marked as missing until it is submitted.
Students will have two additional school days to submit the assignment and earn a maximum score of 80%.
If the assignment is still not submitted after those two days, students will have an additional two school days to submit it for a maximum score of 50%.
If the assignment has not been submitted by the end of that four-day period, the zero will remain in the gradebook and the missing indicator will be removed.
For excused absences, students get the same number of days absent + 1 more to make up work. If work is not submitted within this timeframe, it is considered late.
If absent, whatever is due the first day of your absence is due the day you return.
If you have completed an assignment as late or makeup work, you must fill out a 'Past Due Work Submission Form' when you turn in the assignment. This is for paper assignments AND google classroom assignments. This form tells your teacher that you have an assignment that needs to be graded. Otherwise, it does not get graded.
Each student will receive one "grace" late assignment per quarter that may be turned in without a late penalty.
Late homework will not be accepted after the unit test has been taken, as students must demonstrate their understanding of the material before the assessment.
