More about me

I was born and raised in Mahendranagar in Nepal’s Far Western province, a historically underdeveloped region where access to education and environmental resources remains(ed) a challenge. Driven by a passion for education and environmental conservation, I earned a graduate degree in Environmental Science from Tribhuvan University. I spent six years working with rural communities, policymakers, and forest stakeholders to bridge the gap between environmental policy and the implementation of on-the-ground conservation initiatives in Nepal.In 2019, I moved to the United States to pursue a Master’s in Public Policy, navigating the complexities of academic life and parenthood during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, as a PhD student in Environmental Science at Oregon State University, my research focuses on the social and human dimensions of climate change issues. Through a mixed-method approach, I explore how cultural traits influence wildfire management issues. I also examine the impacts of climate change, particularly the effects of climate stress and grief on agricultural producers.At OSU, I have worked with OSU’s Public Analysis Laboratory (OPAL), the Fire Extension Program, and the Agricultural Extension Program. My current work with the Agricultural Extension centers on building resiliency and addressing the mental health impacts of climate change on agricultural producers. I am passionate about diversity, representation, and gender equity. Thus, I integrate these perspectives into my research and professional engagements.Beyond academia, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, reading, cooking, and discovering new experiences with my 7-year-old son.
