Books are a wonderful way for children to learn more about their lives and the lives of others. Through books and book conversations, we can all learn more about the world around us, too.
Sometimes, it can be hard to know what books are best for the children we care for and support. In response to that, we created book lists focused on topics like families, friendship, LGBTQ+ Pride, foods, the first day of school, and social justice. On each list, you will find the book, YouTube read-alouds, and resources on the topic. We have also created some book reading guides from books off these lists with activities and discussion questions for adults/educators/families to use with young children, too.
Each list is translated into Oregon's five essential languages: English, Spanish, Russian, Traditional Chinese, and Vietnamese. We encourage educators to use these lists in their learning spaces and share them with the children and families they care for.
