Meet our 2024-25 team members! You can find🧳's in the bios of those who will travel to help implement the Tomata 2025 footbridge.
Are you an OSU student interested in joining us? Contact Landon at fickla@oregonstate.edu to get in the loop, or just stop by a weekly meeting on Monday at 4pm in Kearney 202! We'd be excited to have you!
Landon is a fifth year student majoring in construction engineering management. He joined EIA because he appreciated their firm intentions to help people around the world, and he loves being part of a community who strives to provide the world with equal opportunities. A fun fact about Landon is that he is best friends with Team Ambassador Jacob.
Erica is a sophomore in civil engineering who enjoys building global connections and make a lasting difference with EIA! Erica had fun learning Siswati during the Elubaneni bridge build - a favorite word is sicedzile, we're finished.
Jacob graduated in 2024 with a BS in civil engineering. When he isn’t dedicating himself to his rigorous studies or volunteering at an animal shelter, he can be found shredding the gnar at one of Oregon's many snow peaks. When asked about his favorite memory from his time in EIA his eyes seemed to glaze over as he said “In Africa, I would wake up each morning in my hammock under 3 huge mango trees and look out at the blazing orange sun peaking out over the mountains. Going up to the homestead I would be greeted by our surrogate grandma, Gogo, and share a cup of coffee with her on the porch until it was time for work.”
Angel is a second year student majoring in mechanical engineering. She traveled to Eswatini for the Elubaneni bridge build in 2024, and had the best summer of her life!!
John is a junior majoring in civil engineering who led on site QC for the chapter's bridge build in Eswatini last year! He loves inspiring and organizing others.
Eric is a second-year civil engineering major. He is excited to contribute to EIA's mission and can't wait to get some hands-on experience! Eric enjoys going outside.
Dylan is a sophomore student majoring in Civil Engineering. He is looking forward to being able to do design work and engineering calculations on a real bridge project! Dylan enjoys hiking and biking and is interested in transportation engineering and geography.
Gus is a first year student majoring Environmental Engineering. He is excited to participate in Engineers in Action and to make an impact in our world.
I'm a 2nd year Architectural engineering student here at OSU passionate about structural engineering and efficient design. I'm excited about the chance to travel and help people in need!
Luke is a sophomore in Civil Engineering. He is looking forward to getting to design and apply engineering to a real world situation.
Rose is a freshman in Civil Engineering. they are looking forward to working in a team and with structure design.
Mikko is a freshman majoring in Industrial Engineering and minoring in Computer Science. She is excited to see the real world applications of engineering and how it can be used to improve lives.
I'm a 1st year Mechanical Engineering Student here at OSU! I love new experiences, especially when it involves helping others.
Jamie is a fourth-year civil engineering major. When asked why EIA, she explained, "It's more than just learning about engineering; it's about connecting to communities and cultures I never would have been able to without the club. It teaches students so much about the importance of accessible infrastructure and the positive change it can make for people." Beyond EIA, Jamie is also a great artist who especially enjoys painting and drawing portraits!
Dr. Soleimani, an Assistant Professor of structural engineering at Oregon State, has taken on the role of faculty advisor for EIA starting from the academic year 2023-2024. She looks forward to inspiring and guiding EIA team members on their journey to create meaningful change through their engineering endeavors.
Dr. Miller is an Associate Professor Emeritus at Oregon State. He helped to found the EIA chapter at OSU in 2022 to give students the opportunity to make lasting impacts on communities in Africa. In addition, they gain leadership skills as they design and build suspended bridges in Eswatini. He is very proud of how OSU students are able to help the communities there with these hands-on, real-life, international projects.
