We represent the student chapter of Engineers in Action at Oregon State University, established in 2022 as a sub-group of our student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Our collaborative efforts involve working with teams from various schools, EIA ambassadors, Bridge Corps members, and community members. Together, we strive to construct a new footbridge in Eswatini or Bolivia every year!
Engineers In Action’s mission is to support development of sustainable systems and infrastructure with underserved communities, local expertise, and global partners.
We strive towards a world where everybody has safe river crossings to access the basic opportunities they need to thrive.
Equity, education, community, professionalism, and more. These values guide everything we do!
On August 30th, 2024 a student team of eleven, including five students from OSU, staff from Engineers in Action and the organization's local government partner, Microprojects, as well as leaders and members of the Mkhaya and Nkomonye communities gathered to celebrate the opening of the Elubaneni footbridge! This bridge will provide a link between people and resources on both sides of the Phongolwane River for many decades to come.
