April 2026
As we settle into the season of spring, ORCA teachers and faculty have drummed up another round of enticing field trips for students of all grade levels to attend.
Swing into Spring (4/10)
K-8 Student Government is back at it with the middle school Spring Social. Attendees get to enjoy live playlist music, games, and dancing. The event mentions semi-formal attire and encourages attendees to “bring your energy for a night you won’t soon forget.”
The attendee limit is 100. It is a drop-off event.
SAT Workshop (4/10)
Prepare to crush the math section of the SAT with ORCA’s SAT Math Preparation Workshop Series. Hosted by high school math teachers, these experts will give “all the best SAT Math tips and score-boosting strategies.”
This workshop is for high school students. The meeting will last from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. There will also be two more sessions in May.
Lane County History Museum (4/16)
3rd and 4th graders are invited to the Lane County History Museum to learn about the Oregon Trail as well as the experiences of the travellers who survived the journey to settle in Oregon. Attendees will explore what a day in the life of a pioneer child was like, and study Native American history and perspectives with a focus on Kalapuya tribes.
The RSVP deadline is April 13 before midnight. The attendee limit is 15 students and one parent/guardian per family.
Stonehouse Tour (4/24)
All grade levels have the opportunity to go on a private tour of The Old Stone House in one of Oregon’s quieter corners, Malheur County. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building was the first permanent building in the community of “Stone House,” which was later renamed to Vale in 1887. Students will be able to participate in a hands-on activity and learn about the history of the building and area.
The RSVP deadline is April 13. There is no cost to attend. Students are asked to dress for the weather as the tour is partially outside.
Pendleton Underground Tour (4/24)
For students third grade and up, this guided tour through the Pendleton Undergound includes the Shamrock Card Room, Chinese Laundry, Empire Ice Cream Parlor, and the Empire Meat Market. Participants will also learn about Pendleton's large Chinese population, and how they travelled here and worked in often brutal conditions to help build the West.
The RSVP deadline is April 16 before midnight. The attendee limit is 20 students and 20 parents/guardians. The tour is $9 per person and is paid before the tour.
5th Grade Outdoor School (5/1)
This 5th-grade exclusive experience allows students to learn about the world. Students will learn about the forest, plants, Oregon’s native tribes, basic first aid, survival skills and more. The event emphasizes being able to “hang out with your 5th-grade classmates and ORCA teachers.”
The RSVP deadline is April 29 at 4 p.m. Students will need proper clothing for walking and weather conditions. Attendees are asked to bring water, a sack lunch, and a snack.
