In October, we read Pumpkin Jack By Will Hubbell. This story is about the lifecycle of seeds but it is also a story about perseverance and generosity. The students were able to observe our own Pumpkin Jack in a jar and watched his decay take place. Each week they were mesmerized by the new color and shape of the mold forming in the one gallon jar in front of the library. We will be planting Jack, just as it happened in the story. We don't know what the outcome will be. He is still in the library on the back bookcase in his own little habitat. Will we get pumpkin plants in the spring? Stay tuned for the answer!
