Dear Panel Members:
For my Senior Project, I plan to learn how to operate a 3D modeling program, Blender, and create a music video at the end of my thirty hours of work time featuring what I've learned to make with it to pair with one of my original songs. In doing so, I would like to explore the basics of 3D modeling as an art, and end up with a product that displays the most interesting and fun parts of my learning process. I am very interested in the arts and have never attempted to use a program like this before. I will show growth by expanding my knowledge in a new area of artistry. I would like to explore the logistics of 3D modeling and how it all works, and develop a deeper understanding of it in general through my work on Blender.
I am interested in this topic because art is an integral part of who I am, and expanding upon the artistic mediums that I can work with will give me an advantage looking forward into the future. I have always wanted to create advanced music videos, and looking at creations made by 3D modelers online, I can't help but be intrigued by what types of things I could make with this medium as well to add to what I already know in music and 2D drawing. This will keep me captivated and motivated for the full thirty hours, as I am pretty much always thinking about art and what to create next. This will only boost me.
This project will show new learning and growth because, as previously stated, I will be exploring an area of art that I haven't before. This, in turn, will make me a more well-rounded and skilled artist for current and future projects, and will help me create products that I cannot currently make with my present skillset. It will challenge me by testing my ability to learn and adapt to a new, never used by me before program to create a finished, polished product by the end of my thirty-plus hours. This will positively affect me by giving me the knowledge and skills to expand my creative reach for future individual and school-based projects and creations.
I do not yet have a mentor chosen, but plan to contact and figure out who I would like to help and to be my mentor by late summer to early fall, depending on who I can find to guide me through this project.
I will begin my work on this project in the fall, and then hopefully, by December break, I'll have a finished product to be able to put on display. If it doesn't go as planned, however, I'll certainly be able to get at least thirty hours in by early 2023. It should be relatively easy for me to get the hours in, however, as I am very passionate about my artistic projects and tend to get sucked into my work when I'm especially motivated. Blender is free and open-source, so there should be no costs associated.
Thank you very much!
Sincerely,
Rebecca Troop
