An assignment that I´m proud of:
docs.google.com/presentation/d/1a8sItpBToB-PdX5S5Qm4Zueqewaqdbm8Cvl6uS_B8Ac/edit?usp=sharing
The task was to choose a case on the Innocence Project website and make a presentation on the improper forensic science that was used in that case.
Objective: Students will study their chosen subject, the methods for preventing false convictions related to their subject, and one real case of an individual who was unfairly imprisoned because of their issue using the material from the Innocence Project. With all of this data, students will produce a presentation that they will display to the classroom.
Due to its explanation of how false confessions generally result in wrongful convictions, the assignment is appropriate for the entire unit.
I gained knowledge about the rules, safeguards, and/or steps that can be taken to prevent false confessions from leading to incorrect convictions.
This assignment showcases my strengths by showing how I am able to organize, analyze and research information.
This assignment represents important themes in the course such as the use of DNA in court, post-conviction DNA testing, and reasons for wrongful convictions. It also represents themes like eyewitness misidentification, inadequate defense, and government misconduct.
I appreciated this project because I was given the opportunity to work with my peers and learn about many wrongfully convicted cases.
The assignment connects with the larger world because examining cases of incorrect convictions using forensics can teach investigative professional's vital insights that they might apply when carrying out tasks, interpreting data, and drawing conclusions.
An assignment I can improve:
The assignment was to work with a group to create a presentation that discussed the professional principles of a forensics expert, unlawful parts of the Sonja Farak and Annie Dookhan cases, and procedures to ensure that ethical problems don't occur future.
The objective of the assignment was to examine the criminal drug lab scientists Sonja Farak and Annie Dookhan in a team and then have a constructive conversation about the ethical requirements of a forensics expert.
The assignment fits into the overall unit because it talked about the ethical failures in two cases that involved forensic science. It also provided what policies should be used in court to prevent failures in court to happen again.
By doing this project, I discovered that there are several cases that use forensic science and may contain errors that cause everlasting harm to individuals.
This assignment challenged me to analyze scholarly articles and present information to the class.
If I had to complete this assignment again, I would improve it by adding more pictures and making the text bigger so the audience can see it better.
