This assignment from Marking Period 1 is a reflection of my capability of developing and accumulating an almost perfect writing piece about a topic of choice that I was already well versed in. After creating my rough draft, as weeks progressed my paper required little to no edits despite being peer reviewed due to its initial excellent content. My success gave me a sense of confidence in writing that I heavily lacked before, so I am grateful for the score I received.
The chosen essay from Marking Period 2 reflected my literary ability, as well as aptitude of conducting research and acquiring points to support my main thesis, but I did not score as high as I'd like to due to religious constraints of trying to convey neutrality on a topic discussing the importance of political representation. Through skillful interpretation, I succeeded in conveying that desire but the content lacked the concept of taking a stance, reflecting the need for referencing more researched points and content to create a more effective answer to the prompt at hand.
In the 3rd Marking Period, given the prompt of the importance of the First Amendment, I skillfully crafted a poem that broke down every line of the Amendment, paired each line with a relevant statement that rhyme with the statement before to create a smoothe flow, and concluded the Poem with unique vocabulary that highlights the wondrous limitless yet limited characteristic that pertains many aspects of the lives of citizens of the United States, through the constitution. Despite receiving a 100 and the distinct formatting, my peiece was not chosen as a finalist for the competition, but that in itself can be interpreted as the true nature of poetry and life, so I remain content and focus on acheiving even greater heights.
Within my 4th and Final Marking Period as a high school senior at the STEM Innovation Academy of the Oranges, working alongside two other peers, through in depth research and comprehension of a real world problem at hand, we successfully completed the development of a 30 page Literature Review to support the development of our KADE application. Throughout the entire school year, we put our hearts and souls into the creation of the application and research that defines its relevance and need. When initially presented to us, the 30 pages seemed daunting but through essential guidance from our mentors Mr. Johnson and Ms. Antigua, we crafted together a piece that can truly represent the determination, aptitude, and collaborative abliities as a team and individuals, a testament to the well known STEM Innovation Academy slogan, "We Rise Together".
