After spending a few days going over innovations and from the years 650-1450, we had to choose and write about an invention we wanted. We needed to make sure to include details such as background, affects on the ancient world, and it's affect in the modern world. I decided to choose a compass a revolutionary innovation that has been able to help ancient and current times. In my paper, I make sure to assert the impacts this innovation has had. To me I asserted that the compass was known as one of the first navigation systems for travelers, a very important contribution to the system of traveling. For this assignment I believe that I was able to understand the factual importance of a compass, and made sure I implemented it into every piece of my writing. Even so, I seemed to struggle with only including evidence and not analyzing it very well.

After reading a set of documents in class, we had to analyze the relationship between gender and politics in the twentieth-century Latin America. Before writing the essay, each document contributes to its own story and takes on gender and politics. What I did for each document was write down important notes that help in asserting my idea on gender and politics then to now. My idea for the essay was to be able to reflect on how gender had built the political powers we know of today, and how inclusive it is because of gender restrictions that were enforced before. I believe I was able to successfully analyze and distinguish how gender and politics share a connection. I think I was really able to find the bad things that it has done but tried to also include some good things that have come as a result.

For me, this assignment was very engaging. After spending some time talking about trading and the goods that would be traded or sold, we got to investigate some goods that we are curious to know about. In this assignment our main objective was to be able to address a certain trade goods and its contribution to the trade system. The 4 goods that i decided to research and talk about were salt, paper, tea, and coffee. When writing about each good, we needed to make sure to include when the good was created, how much is was worth, where, it would be traded, and any additional information that could really explain what the good is. Even though, it was fun to research more about what these goods were and still are, it was a bit difficult to find sources that would help us answer these questions on the good.

This assignment is a reading and comprehension assignment. It is tasked with seeing how much we are able to understand when reading the Gujarat Trade document. For each question we needed to make sure write in at least 5 sentences and make sure we are including evidence supporting our answers. I believe I did well in answering each question to my understanding, but the thing that I may have struggled with may have been properly analyzing the evidence. Sometimes I may have repeated something that was already stated again. What I tried to do as a result is try to look even deeper to what I had already said and analyze even more.

After spending some time learning about philosophers and their history, we were to do our own research on philosophers based on what we had discussed the last class. The last class we mainly focused on the enlightenment and philosophers during that time. This assignment would allow us to gather more information and also learn more about enlightenment philosophers and there impact then and now. In our research we needed to gather information on there ideal, 2 quotes said by them, and 2 historical events that relates to the philosopher and there ideals. We were to choose 4 philosophers. Those I choose where Jean Jacques Rousseau, Baron de Montesquieu, Thomas Hobbes, and Mary Wollstonecraft. One of the challenges that I experienced was how it was a bit difficult to find quotes that would came exactly by the person. For some time I taught that I would have to start all over because I couldn't find any quotes that highlighted there ideals. But after some time I was able to find quotes and then it was much easier to go on with the assignment. Overall, this assignment was very engaging and a bit fun since we were able to learn more about philosophers during the enlightenment period.

As part of the school district, each year we need to complete the Law Day assignment. The theme for this year's law day assignment was focused on “Voices of Democracy” recognizing that in democracies, the people rule. The choices that we had for this assignment were art, essay, or videos. I choose to do an art piece that showed the "Voices of Democracy". My art piece was digital and it mainly highlighted how the government needed to hear and understand the voices of everyone. It is important because then there we will signs of great change. I specifically focused on how segregated voting was before people started to speak out and how much it has changed from then. The rubric for this assignment based on our teacher included that we made sure to have some dialogue or quotes. That was something that I was unable to fully integrate into my art piece. I had some sort of dialogue but I needed to include more and make the situation much clearer to understand. Overall, I know that for next time I need to make sure that I look back at the rubric and make sure I have exceeded in checking off everything.

During class we went over the communist manifesto and what it was. During our time of discussing and reading about the communist manifesto, we were then given questions to answer based on what we learned and read. We could use primary sources which we read or other reliable sources on the internet to answer the given questions. We needed to make sure that each question was answered in full sentences with enough information to support it. There were some questions that we went over as a class which made it much easier to answer and gather information on. For some questions we were asked to find quotes that would support our answer to the question. The assignment was not really difficult as we had to just use everything we learned but it did take some time to finish. The amount of time that it took to finish this was the "bad" part but in the end I was able to finish it in time and submit it. This assignment also allowed me to fully show that I understood what the communist manifesto was.

After briefly learning about Africa being colonized and how different regions reacted to their colonization, in groups we were tasked to present a colonized country in Africa. This project asked us to investigate a newly formed nation in Africa due to imperialism. As a group we needed to gather information on how imperialism infected the nation before and after. In our group we choose to find information on Madagascar. Since we were put into groups we decided to split the work and each find information based on what we were said to look for. I choose to find information mainly on the government of Madagascar. With some help from my teacher I was able to find some information on the government of Madagascar before imperialism. Although I found information, it seemed that I found repeated information that did not really help me. I was struggling in finding information on the government before and after. Eventually I was able to find a decent amount of information but I felt that I did not find enough. Even so, I believe I had a good understanding of their government that the presentation went better than expected.
