This assignment was from the start of the year when Mr. Johnson wanted to check our writing ability by giving us a writing assessment. This was a timed writing assessment where we were given an hour and twenty minutes to complete the assessment. Within this time frame, we had to use the skills taught when it came to analyzing more sophisticated papers. We had to use these skills to determine whether or not the article can be used for our paper. I was able to finish the paper within the time limit but I only had about ten minutes to check over my work. The only problem I had with this assignment was that I had various grammar errors but was not able to finish it because of the time limit. Even though I wasn't able to check over my writing, I still was able to incorporate evidence from all the articles provided to score well. Next time, I plan to find a way to finish the writing task much faster to have time to read over my work.
This assignment was from the middle of the school year when Mr. Johnson wanted to check if our writing ability improved since the last time he gave us a writing assessment. This was a timed writing assessment where we were given an hour and twenty minutes to complete the assessment. Within this time frame, we had to use the skills taught when it came to analyzing more sophisticated papers. We had to use these skills to determine whether or not the article can be used for our paper. The writing assessment was different from the previous one and incorporated more information to read from and use, I was able to finish the paper within the time limit and had some time to read over my work. The only problem I had with this assignment was that I had some grammar errors and managed to finish the paper on time. Even though I wasn't able to check over my writing, I still was able to incorporate evidence from all the articles provided and from outside resources to score well. Next time, I plan to focus on my grammar since this is my weakest aspect when it comes to writing.Â
Each year, all students at STEM participate in the Superior Court of New Jersey--Essex Vicinage Law Day competition. Every year we have to do a Law Day assignment and each year the task is different. For this year the task was about the Cornerstones of Democrac. We have the choice to express this message through different forms such as paper, poem, or art. I ultimately decided to draw since I felt it was the less time-consuming option. Even though it was the least time-consuming option, I still had to think hard about what to paint. I ultimately decided to draw a picture of how society would look like if there was no government. This is the reason, I decided to make society look like it was destroyed since I did some research and found that society relies heavily on the government to function. For example, tax money goes into fixing infrastructures and without a government then nothing will be fixed. Next time I would have put more time into the project since I rushed to finish and felt I could have done a better job.
This senior Capstone paper was something we have been working on from the start of the school year. This paper served as the stepping stone for our physical project which was a wheelchair scale. During each marking period, we had to perform research to see if there is a need for our project. To do this we collected data online but also sent out a survey where we received 140 responses. The paper consisted of multiple parts such as an abstract, lit review, methodology, community engagement, and many more. We would improve the writing through the feedback provided to ultimately have a decent paper backing up our idea. In the end, we manage to follow the rubric well and manage to score well yet we still had some errors. The feedback given for the final paper was to add more to a specific section and fix some grammar mistakes. We were able to fix these mistakes but if there was a next time then we would have focused more on reading over our work to make sure these mistakes don't happen.
