Kindergarten Teacher at Oradell Public School
At OPS, homework supports learning and reinforces skills taught in the classroom. Monday through Thursday, students will be assigned up to two short homework assignments along with 20 minutes of reading. There is no homework on Friday; however, we encourage students to keep reading on the weekends.
First Year of Big Kid School
Kindergartners love practicing school routines, building independence, and engaging in new learning experiences at OPS, including exploring early reading skills and discovering the joy of math.
Field Trips
Kindergarten goes on two exciting field trips each year! In the fall, we visit Secor Farms for a fun, hands-on learning experience about nature and farming. In the spring, we explore the Turtle Back Zoo, where students enjoy observing and learning about animals from around the world. These trips are a highlight of the year and tie into our classroom learning!
Family Winter STEAM Activity
Families are invited to join our class for a sweet and festive activity—building their very own gingerbread house! It’s a fun way to get creative and problem solve together.
Writing Camp Out Celebration
At the end of the year, Kindergarten hosts a special writing celebration outdoors under tents. Families are invited to "camp out" around the "campfire" and enjoy reading their child’s writing pieces from the year. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate their growth and creativity.
