HOMEWORK

Students

  • Set up a quiet, clutter-free space where you can work independently… If possible, be near a parent/guardian so you are close enough to ask for help if needed.

    • Keep space well-supplied (charger, headphones, writing tools, paper, etc).

    • A printer is handy….but should not be necessary.

  • Always write down homework, test and due dates in your agenda book.

    • Open Agenda Book/Student Planner to see what your tasks are for that night, what projects are due soon, and what tests are upcoming

    • As you complete & turn in each assignment, check it off to manage your workload and know you are making progress!

  • Studying is homework too!

    • If you don't have work to complete but you have a test or quiz soon, you MUST study!

  • Look at teachers’ websites to check assignments and due dates against what is written in your agenda book

  • Show a parent/guardian the agenda book and teacher websites to keep them updated on your workload and progress.

  • Do the most difficult, most boring assignment first. Focus only on this assignment.

    • Read all directions carefully.

      • Highlight key directions or keywords to help you understand what to do.

    • Gather what you need to complete this assignment (notes? textbook? workbook? a specific handout?)

    • Complete assignment to the best of your ability

      • Use your book, notes, etc to help you

      • Do what your teacher said about responding

        • Include facts, examples, and details

        • Show all your work (math and science)

  • Once the assignment is complete to the best of your ability and according to the directions, turn it in/submit it.

Parents

Help your child find a a quiet, clutter-free space… be nearby so they can ask for help if needed, but far enough away to do work independently

If needed, you can initial your child’s agenda book by that subject after they see their work is complete and submitted/turned in.
