Here is an article about predicting the next pandemic written in 2017. Send me and email by the end of the week letting me know your thoughts on the article now that we are experiencing our first pandemic as well as your answers to the comprehension questions.

This week we are going to focus on Figurative Language. If you have access to a printer please print out the figurative language activities below to work on throughout the week. Let me know if you have any questions or if you are ready to check your answers.
Figurative language uses figures of speech to be more effective, persuasive, and impactful. Figures of speech such as metaphors, similes, and allusions go beyond the literal meanings of the words to give readers new insights. On the other hand, alliterations, imageries, or onomatopoeias are figurative devices that appeal to the senses of the readers.
Please explore https://stories.audible.com/discovery and choose a free audiobook to begin listening to. Send me a one-two paragraph write up about the book including the title, author, setting, genre, and key characters. Let me know what you think of the story so far, are you going to keep listening or find another book for next week? You can use questions provided below to help guide your response.
Please let me know if your classroom teachers have already assigned reading material so we can work together on that if needed.
