Developed by Oak Park district English teachers, the OPUSD Stylebook was created as a resource for students and parents to support excellent writing, review MLA style and answer often asked questions about essay writing.
Course Description:
Students will participate in a literature-based instructional program that emphasizes the integration of reading, writing, listening, speaking, and the acquisition of language skills. Units of instruction will include short story, novel, modern drama, Shakespearean drama, poetry, and essay. This college preparatory, standards-based course meets the requirements of both the University of California and the California State Universities.

Grading:
Grades will be determined using a point system. Grades will be based on such things as classwork, homework, quizzes, and tests.
Class grades will be communicated in a timely manner. Students may come in 7th period to access their current grade or check on Q. It is highly recommended parents check Q on a regular basis.
Homework will be a follow-up to class instruction and assigned as needed. A specific reading schedule will be given for each literary unit. All resources, assignments, and schedules are posted on Google Classroom.
