Supply List for Introduction to Art
Dear Parents,
As you know, the state budget crisis has had a severe impact on education and a direct effect on budgets at MCMS. I am requesting that students consider providing some supplies so that I can deliver a high quality studio experience for your child. By purchasing the suggested supplies that your child will use individually, I am able to use the class budget to purchase class supplies like paint, pastels, colored pencils, etc.
The two items below are due in class by August 14th.
Graphaids, a local art store in the area, has been extremely helpful by providing a vendor source where all items can be found at ONE place. They have also agreed to give all Medea Creek Art students a 30% discount (on non-sale items and 10% on books). You may purchase your supplies wherever you wish. This vendor is provided for your convenience in response to parent requests for a vendor source.
GRAPHAIDS
28710 Canwood St #100, Agoura Hills, CA 91301
(818) 575-9565
OPEN 10am-4pm every day BUT CLOSED ON SUNDAY!
*please check their website for current times/ holiday hours.
They have been kind enough to set up a display with a sign that reads something along the lines of “MCMS Students” so that you can find everything in one place without hunting around the store.
Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to a wonderful semester with my artists.
Also, some parents have inquired about making a donation to the art department for additional general supplies. It pleases me greatly to know that there are patrons of art here at MCMS! If you wish to do so, please send a check to class with your child made payable to MCMS-OPUSD with ART DONATION marked in the memo line. The check will be logged and forwarded to the office.
These supplies can be found at Graphaids.
9x12 sketchbook (100 pages or more- about 60-70 lb paper weight)
4x5.5" linoleum speedycut speedball carving block (for printmaking) *or similar size- must be linoleum not hard board. The linoleum is flexible and bends. If it has a wood back it is not the correct block to buy.
You can also find these or similar items at Target, Walmart, or Amazon.
*These materials are considered a donation. If you are unable to purchase ART SUPPLIES for any reason, please contact Ms. Baker at lbaker@opusd.org, so that I am able to coordinate supplies for your child. *** Education Code § 17551
