Mezzo-Soprano, Elizabeth Abowd, is originally from Toledo, Ohio. Elizabeth earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from DePaul University, and her Master’s in Music from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts. She has been teaching private voice lessons for over 8 years and has cultivated a technique based in proper breathing, posture and alignment, musicianship, style, and vocal health. Elizabeth has performed with multiple companies in Chicago including Chamber Opera of Chicago, The Cube Ensemble, Verismo Opera, Vox 3, Da Corneto Opera, and The Millennium Chamber Players. She spent several summers in Florida where she was invited to work with baritone Sherrill Milnes at “The V.O.I.C.Experience.” She also has spent two summers in Italy performing and studying Italian. Along with teaching and performing, Elizabeth works in the field of Speech Therapy. She provides speech services primarily to children from birth to five years old for a variety of diagnoses including expressive and receptive language delays, articulation disorders, phonological delays, and vocal health and hygiene. Elizabeth lives in the Ravenswood neighborhood with her husband, and two four-legged “babies” Charlie and Maggie.
