Objective

The private voice studio is designed to enhance the student’s vocal experience. Having the opportunity to work with a student individually gives the teacher a chance to address individual vocal needs that may or may not be addressed in the regular choral classroom. Students may explore solo singing in the genres of classical, folksong, standards, jazz and musical theater. Teachers will primarily focus on vocal production, repertoire and music theory. Students are expected to practice for at least 60-90 minutes per week outside of lesson time to gain the maximum benefit from private lessons.

Benefits

One-on-one voice lessons is truly the only place that a student will get individualized attention.  This means that focus is placed on the specific needs for each individual student, which is different from a traditional choral setting.  Private lessons are an important supplement to the work being done in choir.

Private voice lessons are ideal for those students who would like to achieve personal growth singing, specifically those interested in performing both during their time at the high school and beyond.  Students learn a healthy foundation of technique that allows them to utilize their voice in many different styles of music.  Students also develop confidence in performing that is applicable to other non-musical situations.

Fees

Voice lessons are $27 per 25-minute lesson.  Payment for all lessons is on a monthly payment plan, with payment due at the first scheduled lesson of each month. (Please be aware that the number of lessons that fall within a month may vary month to month which impacts the total amount of money owed per month.)  Voice teachers should be contacted directly with any financial questions or concerns.  Payments are accepted via Zelle, Venmo or check, at the teachers discretion.

Cancellation Policy

The lesson time that the student and teacher schedule is a contracted time.  If a student will need to miss their lesson, they must notify the voice teacher 24 hours in advance.  In the event of an emergency, you must contact the voice teacher the day of a lesson.  If a student fails to attend a lesson without proper notification they will still be charged the full lesson fee.

Please program your voice teacher’s phone number into your cell phone. Students must call the private voice teacher directly for cancellations.  Do not call OPRF or Mrs. McGuire.  Voice lessons are the responsibility of the students taking them.

The private voice teachers reserve the right to reschedule a lesson due to personal illness, performance schedules, etc. and will make up the lesson or will not charge the student for the missed lesson.
