📚Required Programming Intensives📚
For College Fellows in the NYC area, the expectation is that you attend College Success programming in person (this includes Fellows who have returned to the city over winter and summer break). Virtual and asynchronous participation will only be allowed with prior notice. Fellows are required to participate in Winter Conference in January 2027, and Summer Series (including Back to OppNet Night) in Summer 2027.
🗣️Required Check-Ins🗣️
Fellows must continue to meet the requirements for check-ins throughout the year. These touch points will be 3 times per semester and are accompanied by a required survey. All fellows are expected to complete 6 required check-ins per school year. Check-ins for the last month of each semester include the required check-in survey, but optional check-in calls via Calendly.
For Fellows with a Checker-Inner:
Fellows must sign up for a check-in meeting (about 30 minutes) via Calendly and complete a short survey 72 hours before the meeting:
Pre-Matriculation Check-Ins (only required for first years)
Fall Semester: September Check-In & October Check-in
November Check-In call is *opt-in* (survey required)
Winter Semester: March Check-In & April Check-In
May Check-In call is *opt-in* (survey required)
For Fellows without a Checker-Inner:
You can opt-in to a check-in call at any time, requiring at least one check-in with OppNet staff per semester. You can browse which staff members are available in our Checker-Inner Facebook. The middle of fall and spring semesters are a good time to schedule a required check-in. Please continue to complete the 3 required check in surveys per semester.

Resources Available to OppNet Fellows
Fellows can access the following resources throughout their OppNet experience:
Fellow Statuses in the OppNet Program
OppNet biannually reviews each Fellow’s progress to identify if they have successfully met OppNet's expectations as outlined above. If you are not meeting them and have not been in communication with your checker-inner or the College Success Team as to why, your status will shift based on the guidelines below. It may impact your eligibility for Summer Opportunity Grants. Our intention is not to penalize you, but to ensure that OppNet continues to provide a meaningful experience to you and your peers.
We understand that the ability to meet OppNet's expectations fluctuates at times, and that is normal. Becoming re-engaged and changing your status begins with communicating and sharing how OppNet can best support you. Our number one priority is that you feel comfortable reaching out and letting us know how we can best assist you.
Active Status:
1. Fellow attends required workshops, meetings and events. Meets expectations as outlined in the Fellow Contract.
2. Stays in communication with OppNet teams (College Guidance and Transition, College Success, and Career Success).
3.Communicates with Checker-Inner and/or the College Success email when you are not able to attend sessions or meet requirements.
4. Active Fellows are eligible for Summer Opportunity Grants.
Pending Status:
Status in OppNet is under review following a previous shift in status or due to a lack of engagement. Pending Fellows are not eligible for Summer Opportunity Grants. Other OppNet resources are still available to Fellows with a pending status.
Sabbatical Status:
Fellow has notified OppNet of a life circumstance that requires stepping back from programming and communication. Fellows on sabbatical are eligible for Summer Opportunity Grants.
Dismissed Status:
Fellow has not reengaged with OppNet after receiving a pending status for a year or more. Dismissed Fellows are not eligible for Summer Opportunity Grants. They also will not receive communication or support from OppNet. They can re-engage by reaching out directly to their checker-inner or the College Success Team.
