Score Reports

  • Scores for the MSA and AMSA are available through Cambium's Reporting System, the same site used to access Smarter Balanced assessments. Score reports are similar in appearance to those currently generated for ELA and math assessments.

  • The science tests contain no hand-scored tasks. All items for both the interim and summative assessments are machine-scored.

  • Science interim results will be available immediately.

  • Because the MSA was administered as a field test in the 2020-2021, year there will be no student or school results available. In subsequent years, summative results will be available approximately ten days after the test is completed.

  • Summative score reports will provide general information about students' levels of proficiency with respect to three categories of Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs): Life Science, Physical Science, and Earth & Space Science.

    • The future addition of reporting categories that describe students' mastery of the Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs) and/or the Cross-Cutting Concepts (CCCs) are being explored. Test-system requirements and testing times are two important factors being considered in the design of reporting categories.

The ACT Science test is designed to measure a student's readiness for college and careers related to science, engineering, and technology. It focuses on students' abilities to read and understand science textbooks and similar technical material, as well as to complete tasks that require scientific reasoning.

Statistically, half of students who score at the readiness benchmark on the ACT Science test earn a C or higher in entry-level science courses (e.g., 100-level biology courses).
