OPHS PFA - PFA Gives

OPHS PFA is the Parent Faculty Association for Oak Park High School.

It is made up of PFA Officers and Committee Chairs who work diligently to help make our school a better place for our students.

From Registration at the beginning of the school year, to Grad Night at the end, PFA is an integral part of the school, helping to support students, teachers, and parents.

Did you know that OPUSD receives approximately $600 less per student from the state than the surrounding districts, and the burden of making up that funding gap falls to us. This is why we ask families to donate.

Why Join and Support the PFA?

Because your participation matters!

The more voices there are, the more we can achieve.

When you join the PFA, you gain a voice at our meetings, a vote on important matters, and the opportunity to make a real difference in the daily lives of our teachers, staff and your student!

The PFA Gives Donation Drive is our school’s annual fundraiser — no products to sell, no tickets to buy — just a meaningful way to directly support your child’s education. This direct donation fundraiser forms the forms the bedrock of our fundraising activities and allows OPHS to offer programs beyond what our state funds.

How Much Should I Give?

We suggest a donation of $250 per student, which includes your PFA membership. Whether it’s $35, $250, or more, any donation brings us closer to supporting every classroom, every club, and every student.

Membership is open to all OPHS parents, legal guardians, faculty and community members. Every paid household has a voting voice at PFA Meetings.

Why It Matters:

Your donation fuels the essential extras that make our school thrive.

- Your donations directly support our teachers:
  - Special Funding Requests allow teachers to request or be reimbursed for tools and supplies outside of what is covered by the district. The Science department uses this for specific expendables used in lab experiments. The Math department uses this to get additional graphing calculators and other items for students to check-out and use. The Art Department uses this for additional supplies for drawing, painting, and glass art that are needed beyond what is covered by the district.
  - Special Funding Requests are submitted and granted, so we can send our teacher chaperones with students on trips that add to their student learning - like the spring Journalism Education Association (JEA) and the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) conferences
  - Professional Development requests are granted to teachers so they can continue to learn and grow.
Your donations directly support our College & Career center by helping them to fund the the College Essay Guy workshops and other informational college sessions for parents and Students
Your donations directly support our students who may need additional financial assistance for club costs, Senior Week expenses, Grad Bash Expenses and other items not covered by the district.
Your donations directly support our Speech & Debate Team, Model UN Team, Mock Trial Team, Robotics Team, Talon Journalism and Veritas Magazine - by supporting the stipend for the Teacher/Advisor and the club with a monetary stipend.
All of this is not possible without your support!

Many companies will match their employees' charitable donations dollar-for-dollar. This gives a boost to our fundraising efforts by raising thousands of extra dollars for our school!

In order to deliver a high-quality program for our students, we depend on voluntary donations from parents. Please know that ALL students will receive the same opportunities, experiences, and/or materials regardless of whether a contribution is made.
