Non-technology Based Activities to Support Pragmatic Language Skills
A few ideas to facilitate pragmatic language skills at home:
Participate in pretend play activities with your child
Play simple games to encourage turn taking
Participate in group activities with family members and friends
Create stories together
Role play scenarios in which there are problems and solutions
Allow your child to lead during motivating activities
Look at facial expressions and discuss the feelings associated with the facial expressions.
Practice through miming making faces that show different feelings.
Look at pictures together to encourage descriptive language about a topic or thing, with the adult prompting to keep the child on topic.
