BROOKS '25 CROSS COUNTRY EXPECTATIONS
For practices show up already hydrated in appropriate running clothing, have shoes that are laced up/secured that you are able to run in and bring a water bottle to practice.
Attendance will be taken at each practice. The expectation is that athletes will show up for all practices. Please email coaches if there is a conflict/absence. To be considered for a race, students need to attend all practices.
Cross Country is a distance running sport. Please ensure your student is interested in improving their running stamina when they decide to join Cross Country. Athletes should be able to run at least ½ a mile at a time at the start of the season. By the top of the 3rd week of practice, 6th grade athletes should be able to run 1.5 miles and 7th/8th grade athletes should be able to run 2 miles with limited walking/stopping. The goal is for our athletes to run continuously for 2+ miles at a time to achieve the distance expected to complete a race. Our team has many athletes participating on the team and it is a safety concern when we have athletes only interested in walking the 2+ mile distance during practices.
We are excited for another great running season!
