The foundations instructor is the advisor / liaison between the Associate Teacher\placement and the faculty. They are responsible for supporting the Teacher Candidate through each of their 3 practica and ensuring that they are meeting all expectations.
Expectations of Practicum:
80 days total
P/J experience in each Kindergarten, Primary and Junior Grades
I/S experience in Intermediate, Junior and Senior Secondary Grades
pass each practicum to be successful in corresponding Foundations Class and to continue in program
progression of teaching from individual lesson plans submitted to Associate Teacher the day prior to teaching
progression of teaching time from 35% to 100% by end of third placement
attendance for all days is tracked and complete before the end of the term
Expectations of the Foundations Instructor
ensures that the TC has connected with their AT at the beginning of the placement
ensures that the AT is comfortable with expectations of them and knows that the Advisor / Foundations Instructor is there to support and is the first point of contact
monitors the practicum from Observation and Orientation Days to Teaching Block inclusively
ensures that TCs are communicating all rescheduled days
does regular check ins with both the AT and TC during the practicum
supports the TCs and monitors their FE Binder; regularly checks lesson plans in the FE Binder
supports the AT and monitors any concerns
ensures the Interim Report is completed and submitted (to the FE Binder from the TC)
ensures the Final Report is submitted BEFORE the practicum is complete
reviews the Final Report and reports any concerns to the Practicum Office
identifies the Final Report as ready for final approval by Practicum Office
