The Frazer Faculty of Education emphasizes meaningful integration of technology into teaching and learning. Our instructors use and encourage a wide variety of tools for completing and submitting assignments, viewing course information, communicating and collaborating with instructors and peers, and much more!

A laptop or desktop computer is essential for success in the EDST program. While smartphones and tablets are excellent for checking email, accessing course announcements, or reading materials on the go, they are not sufficient for participating fully in your courses.
During the program, you will be expected to:
Participate in online classes (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet, Kaltura)
Turn your camera and microphone on and off during class activities
View presentations while taking notes or accessing course materials
Work across multiple browser tabs and applications
Access learning platforms and other online tools that may not be optimized for mobile devices
Before purchasing a new laptop or desktop computer, please review Ontario Tech IT Services' recommended laptop standards for Education students. These recommendations are updated regularly and outline the minimum hardware and software requirements for the program.
Good quality internet access
(minimum download speed: > 20 Mbps; minimum upload speed: > 2 Mbps)
Combination headset / micrphone
(Please avoid external speakers as these can cause feedback noise during class.)
Built-in or external webcam
Participating fully in class can be a challenge when your internet is spotty. You can try:
Hotspot from your phone - but be mindful of your data!
Visit your local library and use their internet.
