What is Creativity?
Any experience that involves creative learning and thinking, for example Art, Music or Drama.
What is Activity?
Physical exertion contributing to a healthy lifestyle, complementing academic work elsewhere in the Diploma Program.
What is Service?
An unpaid and voluntary exchange that has a learning benefit for the student.
How many Projects / Experiances do I need to complete?
You need to complete at least 1 CAS Project and as many other Experiances as necessary to cover the Learning Outcomes (as a guide we would say that this would be extremely difficult to complete with less than 1 project and 2 further experiances)
What is the definition of a Project?
A project must include:
Evidence of significant planning by the Student (to be uploaded to Managebac)
Involves teamwork and collaboration
Address one or more of Creativity, Activity and Service. Recommended to integrate two of them
Commitment: at least one month duration and longer recommended
What is a CAS experience?
A CAS experience is a specific event in which the student engages with one or more of the three CAS Strands. C.A.S. experiences should:
∙ Be real and purposeful, with significant outcomes.
∙ Involve personal challenge that extends the student and is achievable in scope.
∙ Provide opportunities to develop the attributes of the IB Learner Profile.
∙ Satisfy at least 1 of the 3 strands of Creativity, Activity, and Service, and at least 1 of 7 learning outcomes
CAS experiences may NOT contain any element of the following:
Academic credit
Financial or material reward
Family duty
Religious devotion
Work experience
Who are CAS advisors?
CAS advisors are one of you assigned Form Tutors
Who are CAS supervisors?
CAS Supervisors are adults in or outside of school who supervise the experiances and projects you are involved with.
What is the date of completion for CAS?
Final Exit Interviews take place in the January of Y13.
