Welcome to Grade 5/6! Whether you are a student, parent, carer or friend of the class, this the place for you to find out all the amazing things going on in the classroom. Check here for announcements about upcoming events, as well as updates on all the great learning that we have been getting up to.
Boozhoo Families,
Nissa is at the school most days that the school is open, and she is offering 1-hour tutoring sessions to help students catch up on work and make plans for the rest of the week's work.
Boozhoo Families,
As you know, the school is still closed this week. In light of this news, I wanted to let you know about a few things.
I will be dropping off a Remote Learning Checklist for Success later today, as well as all my contact information so that your students have a clear path to success and understand where all their work is.
Students and their families are encouraged to make appointments to visit with me at the school if they are struggling with the work. Please, come and see me.
If students need their Chromebook, they can pick it up from me at the school and use it until we are back in class.
Your continued support is appreciated and I hope that you will make time for your student to check in with me this week.
Miigwetch!
Welcome to the last week before Winter Break - and it seems the cold has arrived just in time.
This week, students are still encouraged to catch up on any outstanding assignments. Please remind your student that they must "mark as complete" as they finish the assignments, or else I won't be notified that they are done.
I will be posting a few fun activities in the Google Classroom for the students, in the event that they catch up with their work and are looking for something to do.
Lastly, as far as I know, something is happening with the Time Capsule on Thursday. Details have not really been shared with the teachers, but I will do my best to keep you updated as I know.
Remember how we were going to have an Attendance Challenge before the school closed? Well, now we can! Sort of. Don't go to the school. Instead, I will be taking your attendance at our daily Google Classroom Meets! Every Monday-Thursday from 10-11am, I will be in the Meet that you get to from the Google Classroom - click the Meet link in the blue banner at the top of the "Stream" page.
Every day that you show up to the Meet, you will get your name entered in a raffle for a Fabulous Prize (to be determined by the winner).
If you show up to the Meets all four days of the week, you get your name entered an extra time in the raffle.
If you complete reading, writing, math and either social studies or science you will get your name entered an additional 2 times!
The raffle will be held on Friday, December 18. The winner's adult will be contacted by Harold the Turtle and the Fabulous Prize will be picked up in town and delivered before Christmas. Unless you choose something exotic that needs to be ordered online, in which case it will be delivered as soon as it arrives.
This week there will be no new work assigned. Instead, students have been sent a Doc in our Google Classroom that details all the assignments that they are either missing or have received a grade of 0 for. Students should be working on these assignments for at least an hour a day. I recommend that they start at the top of the list and work their way down, completing the newest work first.
If students have any questions, they can join the Classroom Meet from 10-11am, email or call/text Nissa.
Friends, even though we are not in class, you still have work to do. Nissa has sent you each an email telling you all the work you have to complete this week. To open your email, go to Gmail and type in your email address, which is your first name, last initial @onigamingschool.com Example: nissat@onigamingschool.com and then type in your password. Remember you password is: GR(and then your grade as a number)Name(as in your name, with a capital letter at the beginning. Example: GR6Nissa). Your email is also your ID for the Google Classroom, which is where all your work is. You have 4 assignments to work on each day.
If you have any questions, you can join Nissa in the Classroom Meet (remember, click the Meet link in the Google Classroom banner) Mondays-Thursday at 10-11am. You can also email her at nissat@onigamingschool.com or phone her at the number that she put in your email.
