OSSD's priorities for ESSER 1.0 & 2.0 spending:
In order to improve the overall environment in our schools, the district utilized ESSER funding to complete the following projects:
Replace aging HVAC units to provide clean heating/air to all buildings;
Replace leaking windows;
Remove old insulation used for the original boiler/chiller systems;
Replace broken student chairs and desks.
Providing supports to meet students' needs is one of the district's primary concerns. We utilized ESSER funding to support students in the following ways:
Provide an additional school nurse;
Provide vehicles for the Family Resource Center & Social Worker to be able to conduct home-visits, to deliver supplies and materials to families, and to transport students to counseling and other appointments.
Given the need for virtual education due to COVID, the district utilized ESSER funding to improve access to technology, including:
Promethean Boards for all teachers' classrooms;
iPads and laptops for students and teachers;
Improvements to the network for better quality internet service.
We want our students to have the best schools possible. The district utilized ESSER funding for the following projects:
New gym floor at OES;
New bleachers at OMS/OHS gym;
A Student Wellness Center will be constructed on the campus of Oneida Elementary School. This facility will provide additional classroom and activity spaces for wellness classes, physical education, and recess. Additionally, this facility will provide space for students to participate in large-group activities while enabling social-distancing.
