Q: Can I access my files from a Chromebook?
A: You cannot access your H:\ drive or any other network drives. It is a fairly simple process to upload your networked files to your Google Apps drive and then you can access them from any place you have Internet access.
Q: Are these replacing our desktop computers?
A: Not at this time. That does not mean that it will not happen in the future for possibly staff and students. That will likely be a decision made a few years down the road.
Q: Can I hook them up to our existing whiteboards.
A: The simple answer is no. Our whiteboards are old technology that uses a VGA connection. Chromebooks are new and take a HDMI connection. What we can do is get an adapter that will allow the connection.
With that said, this is still a cabled connection. As we replace whiteboards, in all likelihood we will be able to go to some type of a wireless connection. That is the day we are looking to reach.
Q: Will Google Apps replace our Microsoft Office Suite?
A: We have had that discussion with MIS but at this time we are not making that move. You will be able to access both.
