Use the Circuit Playground Express with the MakeCode platform to tell you when your plant needs to be watered.
Using MakeCode, you can program the CPX to monitor different levels of "dryness" in the soil of a potted plant. The LED lights will serve as indicators letting you know when the plant needs watering. Students can experiment with different dryness levels and output settings, as well as expand the project by logging the data and exporting it into a spreadsheet.
Computational Thinking
4-6.CT.1 Develop a computational model of a system that shows changes in output when there are changes in inputs.
Networks and System Design
2-3. NSD.1 Describe and demonstrate several ways a computer program can receive data and instructions (input) and can present results (output).
