OMS Summer School Band Information

Welcome to the OMS Summer Band program! While summer participation is strongly encouraged to give your student a great head start, it is not required. Below is everything you need to know about our upcoming orientation, schedules, and sign-ups.

Required Action Items

• All Incoming 6th Graders: Please complete the 6th Grade Music Enrollment Form. (Note: All 6th-grade students must fill this out, even if they are not participating in band.)

• 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade Lesson Sign-Up: Reserve your individual or small group lesson timeslot using the Summer School Band Lesson Sign-up. (Note: 7th & 8th-grade slots are limited; no studio classes are offered for returning students).

Date: Tuesday, June 2, 2026
Location: Onalaska Middle School, Room 171

What to expect: Students will receive their instruments, learn how to assemble and hold them, and produce their very first sounds!

Please attend the specific time block designated for your student's instrument:

• 4:00 pm – 4:30 pm: Trumpets

• 4:30 pm – 5:00 pm: Trombones / Baritones

• 5:00 pm – 5:30 pm: Saxophones / Tuba

• 5:30 pm – 6:00 pm: Flutes & French Horns

• 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm: Clarinets

2. June Lesson & Studio Schedule

Dates: June 8 – June 25
Location: Room 171

Beginner Studio Classes (Sectionals)

All incoming 6th graders doing band are automatically enrolled in these weekly studio classes. They meet every Tuesday and Thursday at the following times:

• 8:00 am – 9:00 am: Flutes

• 9:00 am – 10:00 am: Clarinets

• 10:00 am – 11:00 am: Saxophones

• 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm: Trumpets

• 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm: Trombones & Euphoniums

• 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm: French Horns & Tubas

Individual & Small Group Lessons

• When: Mondays or Wednesdays (June 8 – 25).

• How: Use the lesson sign-up link in the Action Items section above to pick a time.

• Conflict Note: If your student can't make individual lessons, please try to attend the studio classes. If your family is away for the month of June, don't worry! We will get your student caught up right at the start of the regular school year.

3. August Band Camps

Dates: August 10, 11, & 12 (Monday – Wednesday)
Location: Room 171

To avoid conflicts with other transition activities (like WEB training), these full-ensemble rehearsals will take place in the afternoon:

• 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm: 6th Grade Band (Full Ensemble)

• 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm: 7th–8th Grade Band (Combined)
